I would like to share with you a miracle that took place in Galveston while we were doing street ministry. The brother in this pictures name is Vince. He is a homeless man that impacted my life in a way I will never forget. When I first met Vince he was asleep under the Flagship Hotel on the beach. Bro. Joe Walls and I woke Vince up to give him some food. He was comming down off of a Meth binge and was angry. He got in our face and cussed us for waking him up and even threatend us with violence. This guy was cut like a pro athlete and we thought we may have to literatly lay hands on him to calm him down. The very next morning I met Vince again at the hobo breakfast and as I gave him a poptop food bag and a blanket along with a Bible and a tract. During the preaching I saw Vince being moved by the Spirit and I went over to him and had the privelege to lead him to Christ. The very next time I saw Vince was that night in the park. He had just explained how he had slid to the street. He was a pro boxer and had fought for a title that payed him very well and he and his girlfriend went out in Vegas to party. Vince hit a pole with his truck and killed his girlfriend. He went to prision for manslaughter and when he got out he said he dove into a bottle and never came out. As we were talking a drug dealer that I had alot of trouble with told me I had to stop preaching in this park because I was bad for his business. I told him I would not leave and he pulled a gun on me. At this time in the park there was only Michelle and my kids and Joe and Karen and there family and a boy that had not been off drugs for more than 3 weeks. They were leading worship for about 100 addicts prostitutes and homless people. When the drug dealer pulled the gun I was to far from him to even think about being able to reach him. Another homeless guy in a wheelchair was trying to roll into the path between us when Vince who was much closer stepped between us. Vince told the drug dealer that he would not harm me, he also told him that he better kill him because if he didn't that he would send him on to hell. How amazing, that a guy that I has just led to the Lord, would stand up and face death for me. The drug dealer backed down and left and we kept having church. Sadly Vince is now in jail for punching out a punk that was about to light him on fire, a sick fad thats going around bum bashing. Because of being a pro boxer and putting a middle class punk in the hospital they charge Vince with feloney asault. Ironicly the drug dealer about 6 mos, later shot and killed another guy and is in prision too. I can't help but wonder if they might be cell mates now. What a story of redemption and salvation that I had a privlage to witness in the miracle on 21st street.
