We are taught in God's Word to: Luke 9:2 "go forth, proclaiming the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick." vs 3 take nothing for the road, no walking stick, no traveling bag, no bread, no money, and don't take and extra shirt. vs 4 Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there! vs5 If they do not welcome you, when you leave that town, shake off the dust from your feet as a testimony against them. So they went out and traveled from village to village, proclaiming the good news and healing everywhere.

We are taught to, like the diciples, make diciples, therefore this is what were are to learn, do, and teach!

Galveston March 2005
This is Ms Margie gracefully with love, taking care of Rick, a crippled man we have known in the streets for about 3 years!
John 13 starting in vs 12 When Jesus had washed their feet and put on His robe, He reclined again and said to them, "Do you know what I have done for you? You call Me Teacher and Lord. This is well said, for I am. So if I, your Lord and Teacher have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you and example that you also should do just as I have done for you."

Galveston
We spent Easter weekend in Galveston ministering in the streets. Friday night we drove thru the streets praying seeking Gods will for this trip. We were touched by the sin and tragedy from the moment we hit the street. Friday we watched two men eating from the dumpster at Wendy’s right below our room, the street behind us a crack house in full operation kept the street busy. Two streets behind us a house of prostitution also in full operation proved that this would be a demanding trip.
Saturday morning at 7:am we went to the Hobo breakfast there was about 200 addicts prostitutes and homeless people there for breakfast. Many of these homeless are kids caught up in a cycle of addiction, because of their moms and dads. Sadly they are very likely to walk the same road. We must offer light and hope to these people Jesus is the only hope for them and we must take Him to them. As I preached the Gospel open air the Lord moved upon the crowd. Two men received Christ many others asked for prayer and we felt as though God had touched us with fresh oil.
We hit the sea wall about 9:am and very quickly the Lord started to open hearts to the Gospel. The very first people we were able to minister to was a group of surfers about 18-20 years old. As I told them about the Lord Jesus and his desire for relationship with them they opened up. As we spoke off the kingdom principles they were truly interested and again I saw the fire in their eyes. We saw another group of radicals that God touched deeply. Kerry gave one of the guys a tract we used called pierced, this tract is very relevant to the this culture. I gave one of the guys in the group a bible, as they walked off in less than a minute they turned around and walked back to us. One young boy said he had never thought about Jesus until he read this tract, this hard radical young man with at least 15 piercing had a tear in his eye. He asked if they could each have a Bible, we gave them all Bibles and prayer as well as handshakes as they went on their way. A couple hours later we saw the same group all reading the Bible. We passed out a couple hundred Bibles and close to 1700 tracts on the sea wall. Karen and Joe Walls part of our crew ministered to a couple of the hookers on a one to one basis. One in particular they were able to get close to. She is about 20 although she looks closer to 40 as Karen ministered to her in front of the house they were turning tricks in, car after car of men pulled up for women. As I was standing there one girl not more than 17 came out and as I tried to talk to her she walked away within 50 feet a man picked her up. Sadly again in this building you could see young kids peeking out of the windows. This one girl Karen and Joe talked to was looking for another score and even though she was hungry for something better, the pull of sin is very strong. She herself said that she knows better but she is not ready to change. She has 4 kids and is pregnant again right now.
Saturday night we had church in the park with the homeless we sang as Joe played the guitar and sang some of the homeless sang along. One girl named Pam about 20 cried as the music played and praise was lifted. A man named Slim in a wheelchair thanked me for the food and blanket from the Mardi Gras trip and told me that a man we’ve ministered to for about a year had died. Slim said I miss him but you know he really did receive Christ in one of these services and now he is not homeless or sick anymore. I cried hearing he had passed Buddy always had a smile and a good spirit we will miss seeing this homeless servant of Christ when we are in Galveston. We had one man give us a hard time he was drunk and aggressive but the Lord controlled the night as he always does. Our kids and wives passed out food bags as Joe and I ministered one on one to these folks. It’s amazing to see our kids playing in the park after ministering to these people. Our kids are good at listening to some of these people we have come to know and are always moved by the trip. One lady who looks like anyone’s grandmother who is homeless and we have seen many times said she always looks forward to our service and the food we bring, but most of all she looks forward to Dakota reading the Bible to her.
Sunday we had communion on the sea wall and prayer, we were all exhausted Saturday night we didn’t eat until after midnight and didn’t go to bed until about 2:45am. We were able to visit Joe and Karen and their family and talk about what God is doing. Later we drove the island praying and passing out food to homeless in the streets. All together we passed out 100 food bags of pop top food and water and soap and tooth brushes.
We ask anyone interested to please call or write us we need people willing to go into the highways and hedges with us. We need pop top food, bottle water and we also need support for regular expenses. We are trying to raise monthly support that we can count on to further the ministry. We are also raising money for a trailer to haul supplies and to serve out of as well as use for our sidewalk Sunday school. If you can help in anyway please contact us.

Living in the Streets
We were glad to have a few blankets left to share in the streets.

Feeding the Hungry
Feeding the hungry is a very important asset to street evangelism. We share the Kingdom of God by our actions. In the New Testament Jesus taught, to share the Kingdom of God, feed the hungry, take care of the widows, and to be a father to the fatherless. People in such circumstances as being homeless, or prostituting themselves out, or being on drugs didn't just wake up one day and say " hey I want to be a homeless addict one day"! People who are down need to be lifted with acts of kindness, and taught or retaught Godly structure. That should start with a good example.
